South Korea reported that new Coronavirus infection cases fell below 20 for the first time in 2 months. According to Korea Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, there are 18 new Coronavirus cases from the previous day, bringing to the total number of 10,653 confirmed cases as of Saturday.
As 2 more people died from the previous day, the death toll reached at 232. The fatality rate is at 2.18 percent. The fatality rate of male patients is at 2.89 percent which is higher than the rate of female patients of 1.70 percent.
The number of daily new infection cases were 34 on February 19th and 16 on February 20th and began to soar highly after cluster infections at Shincheonji church in Daegu having hundreds of new infection cases. However, the number of new infecion cases started to decrease from this month. The number of new cases fell below 30 from April 9th and fell below 20 on 18th.
The number of new infection cases were 25 on 13th, 27 on 14th and 15th, 22 on 16th and 22 on 17th of April.
From 18 new confirmed infections on Saturday, 3 people are confirmed in Daegu and 2 people are confirmed in North Gyeongsang province. There are 6 people confirmed in metropolitan area as 1 confirmed in Seoul, 4 in Gyeonggi province and 1 in Incheon. Additionally, 1 case is confirmed in Gangwon, 2 in South Chungcheong province and 1 in South Gyeongsang province. 4 people are confirmed as an imported cases found at the airport quarantine. There are no new infections in Busan, Gwangju, Ulsan, Sejong, North Chungcheong province, North Jeolla province, South Jeolla province and Jeju.
The cumulative number of confirmed cases in Daegu are 6,830 and 1,358 in North Gyeongsang province. The total number of confirmed cases in metropolitan area are 1,366 - 622 in Seoul, 90 in Incheon and 654 in Gyeonggi province.
108 more people are released from isolation from full recovery and the total number of people who are fully recovered are 7,937 as of Saturday. The recovery rate is at 74.5 percent.
