Coronavirus in South Korea - Total number of 9,786 confirmed cases

The total number of Coronavirus infection cases in South Korea reached to 9,786 people as of Tuesday. According to Korea Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (KCDC), there are 125 new cases confirmed in Korea compared to the total number of infection cases on previous day. 

 

From the total number of confirmed infection cases as of Tuesday, 518 cases are confirmed from people coming abroad to Korea. There are 180 more people who are fully recovered and released from isolation compared to the number on previous day, bringing the total number of 5,408 and 5 more people died, bringing the death toll of 163 people. The fatality rate is 1.66 percent.

 

From the 125 new cases, 60 people are confirmed in Daegu, 24 people confirmed in Seoul, 13 people in Gyeonggi province, 6 people in Incheon, 2 people in Daejeon and North Gyeongsang province respectively, 1 person each in Busan, South Gyeongsang province and North Chungcheong province. Addtionally, 15 people are confirmed through the airport quarantine screening procedures.

 

Regionally, Daegu shows the largest infection area in Korea, followed by North Gyeongsang province and Sejong. South Jeolla province indicates the lowest number in Coronavirus infection cases followed by North Jeolla province. 

 

Due to the spread of Coronavirus infection cases, the government announced that the school year will begin with online classes on 9th of April. This will be applied to elementary school, middle school and high school students. The school year in Korea normally starts in March but the government had postponed its date of new school year for three times and the government decided to open an online classses due to concerns over Coronavirus infections.

 

Additionally, the government also decided to postpone the national college entrance exam from 19th of November to 3rd of December.
